Veer is an open-source Rust crate by Climactic that implements the server side of the Inertia.js v3 protocol. Rust handlers return typed props and the official Inertia client renders React, Vue or Svelte pages, with no separate JSON API.

What it does

The full Inertia v3 protocol
Checked against the Laravel adapter and the real Inertia client.
Every prop type
Partial reloads, deferred, optional, once and merge props, and infinite scroll.
Forms that work
Validation errors, flash data, error bags, Precognition live validation and file uploads.
Server-side rendering
SSR with a fallback to client rendering, Vite integration, and embedded assets for a single-binary deploy.
Types from Rust to TypeScript
Page props and route helpers are generated from your Rust types.
Security built in
CSRF protection and history encryption, plus a recorder for the Inertia DevTools extension.

Example

Render an Inertia page from an axum route.

let app = Router::new()
    .route("/", get(|inertia: Inertia| async move {
        inertia.render("Home", serde_json::json!({ "msg": "hello" }))
    }))
    .layer(InertiaLayer::new(cfg));
  • Veer is pre-1.0, so releases can have breaking changes. axum is the only server adapter today.
  • Veer is an independent implementation. Inertia.js is the work of Jonathan Reinink and its contributors.
